1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and name (provided directly or through Google OAuth). This information is used for authentication and account management.

Profile, voice, and personal context

During onboarding and through your account settings, we collect information to personalize content generation, including: your name, job title, company, industry, professional goals, age range, a description of your work, your preferred writing style, and social media handles for supported platforms. We also store personal stories, anecdotes, and career experiences you choose to provide so Teract can reference them in generated content.

LinkedIn and X profile data

If you connect your LinkedIn or X (Twitter) account during onboarding, we scrape your publicly available profile information (such as headline, bio, work experience, education, skills, and recent posts) to better understand your voice and expertise. This data is stored on our servers to improve content personalization.

Social platform content

When you use Teract on supported platforms (LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Threads, Medium, BlueSky, Hacker News, Product Hunt), we temporarily process the text content of posts, comments, and threads visible on your screen to generate relevant AI responses. This content is sent to our servers solely for the purpose of generating a response and is not stored after the request is complete.

Browsing history (AI Coach)

The AI Coach feature tracks article visits on specific domains (such as Medium, TechCrunch, Substack, dev.to, Hacker News, Reddit, and other industry publications) to surface relevant engagement opportunities. Up to 500 recent article visits (URL, title, timestamp, and domain) are stored locally in your browser. When the Coach generates your daily briefing, this data is sent to our servers for processing. Teract may also access your Chrome browsing history to provide additional context.

Content inputs

When you provide content inputs — such as article URLs, YouTube video links, images, or custom text — this data is processed by our AI to generate content. Article and video content is scraped or transcribed temporarily for processing. Images are analyzed using AI vision capabilities. You may combine up to three source links in a single request. These inputs are not stored after the generation request is fulfilled.

Platform session cookies

Teract reads LinkedIn and X (Twitter) session cookies solely to verify whether you are logged into these platforms. We do not store, transmit, or use these cookies for any other purpose.

Usage and analytics data

We collect anonymized usage data such as feature usage frequency, content generation counts, and general interaction patterns. This data helps us improve the product and does not include the actual content of your posts or generated text. We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking services.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Extension, including AI content generation across supported platforms
• Learn your writing voice and personalize generated content using your style, stories, and professional context
• Deliver daily intelligence briefings by analyzing your feeds and browsing activity for relevant engagement opportunities
• Authenticate your identity and manage your account
• Process payments and manage your subscription
• Improve the quality and relevance of AI-generated content
• Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries
• Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Service

3. How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• AI processing providers: Content inputs and user context are sent to third-party AI providers to generate responses. We currently use OpenAI (GPT-4o), xAI (Grok), and Perplexity AI (for URL analysis). These providers process data according to their own privacy policies and data processing agreements. The specific provider used depends on the feature and your subscription tier.
• Authentication provider: We use Supabase for authentication and data storage. Your account information is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure.
• Payment provider: Subscription billing is handled by Lemon Squeezy. We do not store your payment card details — all payment processing is managed directly by Lemon Squeezy.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Teract, our users, or others.

4. Data storage and security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication is handled through Supabase with support for OAuth and email-based sign-in. Sensitive data such as authentication tokens are stored securely using the Chrome storage API and are never exposed to web pages or third parties.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

5. Data retention

We retain your account information, profile data, writing style preferences, personal stories, and scraped LinkedIn/X profile data for as long as your account is active — this data is essential for personalized content generation. Content processed for AI generation (social media posts, article text, images) is transient and not stored beyond the processing session. Browsing history is stored locally in your browser and sent to our servers only during active Coach briefing sessions. Usage analytics are retained in anonymized form to improve the product. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days.

6. Chrome extension permissions

Teract requests only the browser permissions necessary to function. Here is a complete list of permissions and why each is needed:

• Storage: To save your preferences, authentication state, and browsing history data locally in your browser
• Tabs: To detect the active tab for article detection and content generation context
• Scripting: To inject content scripts on supported social media platforms so the Extension can read posts and provide inline commenting
• History: To access your browsing history for the AI Coach feature, providing relevant context about your reading activity
• Identity: To enable Google OAuth sign-in directly from the Extension
• Cookies: To check LinkedIn and X session cookies for verifying whether you are logged into these platforms
• Side panel: To open the AI Coach interface in a browser side panel
• Alarms: To schedule periodic authentication checks and notification updates
• Notifications: To send engagement reminders and updates about high-potential conversations
• Host permissions: To inject content scripts on supported platforms and communicate with our API servers

7. Your rights and choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: You can update your account information through the Extension settings
• Deletion: You can request complete deletion of your account and associated data at any time
• Opt out of AI Coach: You can disable the AI Coach feature to prevent any browsing history access
• Uninstall: You can uninstall the Extension at any time, which immediately stops all data collection by the Extension

8. Children's privacy

Teract is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and may notify you through the Extension. Your continued use of Teract after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
